Woodpecker cottage is a well-equipped detached single storey cottage which sleeps 2. With so many walks and cycle tracks direct from the cottage, it’s the perfect base for a walking/cycling holiday (we have a secure lock-up for bikes). It is also the ideal spot for holidaying with your four legged friends!

Inside
Tastefully decorated with character features, the cottage is light and spacious. The accommodation comprises a large open plan living/dining area with sofa, dining table and chairs. The focal point of the room is the wood-burning stove, perfect to settle down in front of after a busy day exploring our wonderful Forest of Dean! There is a fully equipped modern kitchen which includes oven, microwave, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge and washer dryer. There is a king size bedroom (travel cot available) and ensuite bathroom. All rooms overlook the idyllic island gardens and provide the perfect place to watch the wonderful array of birdlife visiting the bird feeders and gardens. The property has WiFi and Smart TV.
Outside
The cottage has it’s own patio area with BBQ and private hot tub area (this can be hired separately and is bookable in advance). The cottage also benefits from the enjoyment of the 1 acre of gardens with summer gazebo and sun loungers. These gardens are shared with our other holiday let, set within the grounds.
There are excellent opportunities for wildlife and bird spotting (including greater spotted woodpecker, nuthatch, dipper, grey wagtail, numerous finches and tits) and the local wild boar and deer.
Woodpecker Cottage is one of two beautiful waterside properties at Dean Forest Retreats, set within an acre of grounds. Both properties enjoy privacy and space with their own hot tubs and outside dining areas.
There is off road parking for up to 2 vehicles.
Well behaved pets are welcome (2 maximum) at a cost of £20 per stay.
A Hot Tub is available to hire at an additional charge of £25 per night for the duration of your stay
