Caring for such a large and complex forest is no easy task.

For over 100 years, Forestry England have been growing, shaping and caring for over 1,500 of our nation’s forests for the benefit and enjoyment of all, for this generation and the next.

With the nation's help and support, we care for more land and trees than any other organisation in England. Shaping landscapes for people, wildlife and timber.

Forests are vital for the future of our planet. With careful planning and expert management, our forests will continue to thrive. Storing carbon, reducing flooding, and providing people of all ages and abilities with fresh air and spaces to breathe.

The Forest of Dean is a working forest, producing home grown sustainable timber for the UK market. Wood is part of our everyday lives and ensuring we use sustainably sourced timber is really important.

We put sustainability at the heart of what we do. We achieve the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS) and are the largest supplier of homegrown Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification(PEFC) and Forest Stewardship Council®(FSC®) certified timber in England.
