The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley is surrounded by a wealth of stunning British countryside and historic cities and towns which you may also want to visit while you're in the area. From the cathedral city of Gloucester, with its historic docks and the beautiful cloisters at Gloucester Cathedral used in filming Harry Potter to the festival town of Cheltenham and its famous racecourse, the dramatic Brecon Beacons National Park and the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, this is an area full of beauty and character well worth spending a little longer in. The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley covers two countries and three counties - Gloucestershire and Herefordshire in England and Monmouthshire in Wales. Clockwise, our borders are at Caldicot in the south west, via Usk up to Abergavenny in the north west, to Hereford in the north, Ledbury in the north east then following the edges of the Forest of Dean District to Hartpury in the east then down to the River Severn which forms our border to the south and finally along to Chepstow and the mouth of the River Wye.
Surrounding us you'll find both bustling cities and mountain ranges, all within just a short drive. If you've never explored this area before we recommend taking the time to look at all of the options so as not to miss out!
