Just a very short drive from the market town of Coleford, The Speech House Hotel is a culinary treat nestled in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean.
The hotel has been awarded one AA Rosette and prides itself on sourcing and supporting quality local producers that showcase the area, wherever possible.
The beamed historic Verderers' is the hotel's fine-dining restaurant and reflects the room's continuing use as a courthouse for the Forest of Dean Verderers. It’s said to be the only remaining active courtroom in the UK where dining is a possibility. The Verderers continue to meet every quarter, and discuss the faun and flora of the Forest, in the historic Verderers’ Court.
Not only does Verderers’ offer fine dining and an à la carte menu in the evenings, Sunday lunch is also a very popular option. With a menu that changes each week, you are guaranteed to have an indulgent roast, with all the trimmings.
All dietary requirements can be catered for, and the hotel offers an imaginative range of vegetarian and vegan dishes throughout the year. Verderers’ also has vegan wine to accompany the vegan and vegetarian menu.
The menus change regularly with the seasons under the talented guidance of Head Chef, Gareth Jenkins.
Private à la carte dining and functions can be hosted in the intimate Carolean Room.
There is also a cosy bar and pretty hotel garden with new heated dining dens. The restaurants and bar are open to both residents and non-residents.
Verderers' does not accept dogs. However, the more informal Orangery is dog friendly.
