About Us
Redbrook consists of Upper and Lower Redbrook. The latter is situated on the main Monmouth to Chepstow road which meanders through the Wye Valley, whereas Upper Redbrook is on the route which winds up a valley towards Newland. Most of the vllage is in Gloucestershire, but some parts are in Wales.
Redbrook was largely an industrial settlement in years gone by, having a copper works, which was later replaced by a large tin works. Upper Redbrook originally housed a series of mills, alongside the brook which runs into the Wye.
Redbrook is no longer an industrial centre, but has an active community, and boasts a church, two public houses (one on the English side of the Wye and one in Wales, over the foot bridge) and a friendly village shop stocking local produce.
The footbridge over the Wye was part of the Wye Valley Railway and it had a station on each side of the bridge; Penallt Halt in Wales on the west of the river and Redbrook in England on the east bank.
