About Us
The Anchorage is a privately owned camping, caravan and glamping site situated near the banks of the River Severn at Bullo Pill, Newnham. We are a Freedom Camping Club site which offers free membership, non-members are always welcome.
We provide an adult only, (16+) central base for access to the many visitor attractions and natural wonders which the area has to offer. The Severn Way coastal walk runs adjacent to the site and many other walks can also be easily accessed from our doorstep. The world-renowned Severn Bore can be observed just a short walk from the site and for those who wish to surf it, access is available locally at Newnham. See the timetables for dates throughout the year.
Our toilet and shower block provides free hot water and dish washing facilities. For those requiring use of their creature comforts, 8 electric hook-ups are available together with free site Wi-Fi.
New in 2021 is our converted railway wagon “The FoDPod” which offers glamping for couples only, (minimum stay 2 nights). This is a self-contained unit providing shower, toilet, double bed, micro kitchen and dining facilities. Externally we offer bistro style table and chairs together with a BBQ / fire pit. Though dogs are welcome on the rest of the site, we do not permit pets to stay in the accommodation.
A small number of apple, pear and plum trees, together with our free-range chickens, provide for homemade jams, chutneys and fresh eggs to be available for sale to our visitors.
Our information point contains leaflets for a wide range of tourist attractions, together with a large-scale map indicating their locations.
Pubs and a local shop are within walking distance at Newnham. The area is also well served with a choice of dining venues, just a short drive from the site.
