Located just outside the village of Mitcheldean in the gorgeous Forest of Dean, England’s best hidden gem! The Roost consists of two unique, adults only, beautiful cedar wood cabins set in 2.5 acres of meadow within a Special Area of Conservation. Environmental & sustainability focused, the cabins are built from locally sourced & reclaimed materials and are rated as one of the top 15 Great Cabin Getaways in the UK by The Sunday Telegraph.
The cabins enjoy their own seclusion & privacy and can be rented individually whilst also being close enough to be able to walk from one to the other so are perfect for two couples wanting to holiday together.

Everything provided is of the utmost quality and welfare. There is all the kitchen equipment you will need - an induction hob, microwave, mini oven, kettle, toaster, fridge (with small freezer) and a dishwasher. Plus pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, washing up liquid, dishcloths, tea towels, cooking condiments, fresh ground coffee plus, various teas plus rice, pasta & porridge oats.
Put your feet up and make a brew - some homemade baking is left for guests on arrival.
All your bed linen and extra fluffy Egyptian towels, bath robes & complementary toiletries are included too.
Keep snug inside with the woodburner (and a generous basket of logs) or step outside and luxuriate in our private Japanese hot tub designed for two (think hot tub without jets & lights) - filled with fresh water for each use, meaning no nasty chemicals!
Step off the veranda into the meadow to your fire-pit. We include barbecuing equipment for you to enjoy some "smoke & sizzle" too! If you fancy just "staring at the stars" then enjoy sitting on the swinging cedar loveseat. You will find your stay the perfect way to disconnect - but don't worry, I wasn't going to forget free, fast and reliable WiFi -so after a day of exploring the countryside, you can wind down listening to the bluetooth speaker or stream a film or post that Instagram holiday snap!
We pride ourselves on our green credentials and are happy to say we have an electric car charging point onsite for your use too.

Outside the cabin is the meadow and your own private fire-pit. You will find we leave you lots of bbq equipment to enjoy outdoor cooking or you would just sit in the meadow and enjoy the stars. A stay at The Nest is the perfect way to disconnect but we have free WiFi too - so after a day of exploring the wonderful Forest, you can chill listening to the bluetooth speaker, stream a movie or post your photos!

Stay more than 2 nights and get a £40 discount off each subsequent night that you book.
Woof! We welcome 2 small dogs or 1 medium sized dog. We leave a blanket, towel, poo bags, water & food bowl and a treat for each dog. I will also give you information on dog friendly pubs and restaurants in the area. If your pooch has got a bit muddy on all those lovely walks, we provide doggy towels and have a dog wash area at the site barn.
There is a charge of £30 for one dog (£40 for two dogs) per stay. This is payable by card to the owner before arrival - a payment link will be sent to your email address.
You'll find staying at The Roost to be an immersive experience, nestling into the landscape and local wildlife. Features such as the cabins' living roofs, the wildlife pond and patches of beautiful wildflowers are dedicated to sustaining our local bees, bats and all wildlife alike.
