Explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean with Wyegate Cottages in one of our two beautiful self-catering holiday cottages located in Clearwell and Tutshill.
Both Clearwell and Tutshill are ideal walking and cycling bases with an abundance of footpaths, cycle trails and mountain biking routes. There are activities nearby for all the family from canoeing, Steam Railways, Go Ape to Farm Parks and hundreds of independent cafes, pubs and restaurants often within walking distance.
CHURCH COTTAGES

Church Cottages located in Clearwell. Believed to date back to the 16th Century Church Cottage is full of rustic character with ancient oak beams and a huge inglenook fireplace which is now home to a cosy wood burning stove. Furnished to a high standard the cottage benefits from a fully equipped kitchen with integrated appliances and Nespresso coffee machine, dining table and chairs, large bath with shower, smart TVs, wi-fi, one superking zip & link bed which can be turned into a twin on requests, one king size bed and a single.
Church Cottages has a good sized, enclosed garden with decking area, BBQ and table and chairs. We welcome up to 2 dogs at no extra charge. Hear owls at night and see the visiting deer in the field behind.
Conveniently located a short stroll form Clearwell Castle, The Butchers Arms a local pub serving good quality food and drink, The Lamb Inn – a real local pub just open at weekends serving a large range of local ales and The Tudor Farm House a boutique hotel and restaurant. A five minute drive takes you to Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves and Perrygrove Railway. Slightly further afield the Brecon Beacons, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Hereford and Bristol are within easy reach.
THE COACH HOUSE
Tutshill near Chepstow, Dog friendly, Sleeps 4
The Coach House is a detached cottage located within the grounds of Wirewoods Green Manor. Full of history, originally being built to house the coach and horses for the main house it still retains many original features including the stable stalls, large coach door and cobble stone entrance. There are stunning far reaching views from the bedroom window towards the River Severn and lots of lovely sunrises.
Set over two floors, the cottage offers one king size bedroom and one twin bedroom. The bathroom has a large roll-top bath with shower and downstairs a fully equipped kitchen with large dining table and chairs makes a sociable entertaining space. The lounge area has a cosy wood-burner, smart TV and comfy seating.
The Coach House also benefits from an enclosed patio area with a table and chairs, BBQ and direct access into our large enclosed paddock (perfect for doggy visitors). From here you can you can hop onto the Gloucestershire Way footpath and The Offas Dyke Path linking to many more scenic walks.
Tutshill has a well stocked village shop and a fantastic local butcher, coffee shop, childrens play park and recreational ground, still within walking distance is the community run Rising Sun Woodcroft serving teas, coffees, lunches and evening meals. A slightly further walk (about 20 minutes) takes you into Chepstow for a wider range of shops, bars, restaurants and mainline train station.
The Coach House is walking/cycling distance to the Chepstow-Tintern cycle trail (the tunnel linking the two is closed during the evenings and winter months to protect the bats). This trail is a fantastic flat off-road path winding through the beautiful Wye Valley following the route of the historic old railway line.
