About Us

We love fresh, locally made food and drink and our deli in the centre of Coleford is stocked with a huge range of delicious local produce. Come in and try a little bit of what you fancy, speak to us about recommendations and recipes, pre-order a picnic or hamper or shop online and we can even deliver to your holiday accommodation.

We love cheese

Everything about cheese, the taste, the texture, hard cheese, soft cheese, goat's cheese, spicy cheese, stinky cheese and even vegan cheese. Cheese from the Forest and cheese from the Welsh valleys and beyond with our favourite guest cheeses from around the UK. We aim to have everyone's firm favourites and treat you to some new cheese adventures too. Pairings and pickles to go alongside, crackers, olives, chutneys and meats too. We can pack up a cheese board for you to take away, prepare a picnic to enjoy at your leisure or personalise a hamper so you can leave with a tantalising array of goodies.

It may look a funny colour or smell a bit more than you have tried before, just ask and have a little taste, you may just find a new favourite. If you don't try it, you'll never know!

Fresh homemade bakes

We bake fresh everyday, with our own recipe sausage rolls and quiches available as well as brownies, flapjacks and cakes. All of our ingredients are locally sourced and we can cater for different dietary requirements if pre-ordered. We have a click and collect system on our website so we can create a truly unique picnic or grazing lunch to suit all budgets and tastes.  

Cider, ales, wine and gin from the Forest and beyond

What goes better after a long walk or ride in the Forest than a good beer or cider? Obviously with some great cheese!

Stocking local beers, ciders, wines, gins and more from producers in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, we also stock some interesting guest beers as well as mead, liqueurs and soft drinks. We want you to taste and enjoy regular favourites, some specials and also some new ones you may not have seen before.

Cooking

Whether you already like cooking or want to give something new a try then we have some great meal ideas, a range of interesting ingredients and locally blended spices and sauces for something easy, tasty and a little bit different.

Spoil yourself, or a friend

If you like cheese or chocolate or beer or cider or pies or pastries or like to cook or simply just like nice things to eat, savoury or sweet, then we're the place for you. We can even gift box it for you, from single bottle bags to extra large hampers, heart shaped wicker baskets and wooden trugs. If you're not sure what they would like, there's always our pre-made hampers and we have a gift voucher option too.

Ordering

We have a "build your own gift" service - simply choose your products, choose your gift style (such as a hamper, tray or jute bag) and we will lovingly package and create a great gift for you. We provide a free local delivery service within 3 miles of the shop and can deliver further for a small charge if you'd like an extra special something delivered to yor door.

About us

We set up Forest Deli in 2018 purely through our love of cheese and a lack of availability locally and have been thrilled at how well received we have been.

Coleford is a great town for independent businesses so it made sense to open our deli here to complement the existing greengrocers, butchers and bakers. There are florists and clothes shops, cafes and restaurants too making it an ideal spot to explore, shop and support independent traders.

Our love of travel, food and a desire to provide the local community with something a little bit different means that everything we do and select for the shop is done with thought and care. Debbie loves to cook and is a trained chef and Simon’s hobbies have always revolved around food and drink.
