We’ve put together a list of just some of ways that you could spend your Father’s Day here in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, and with a whole host of options, from cream tea on a steam train to a tour of a distillery, you’re sure to find a Father’s Day day out that is perfect for all the lovely parents out there!

Golf

For a classic Father’s Day day out, why not head out for a round of golf? Here in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, we have a variety of golf courses to choose from, including Monmouth Golf Club, Forest Hills Golf Club, Bells Hotel and Country Club, and Forest Driving Range.

Cheese Board and Local Brew at the Forest Deli

Visit the Forest Deli's Tasting Corner and enjoy a selection of three specially-selected cheeses, served with crackers and chutney, together with a choice of local beer, cider, mead, local wine, or a soft drink.

Father's Day Cream Tea Train

For a more unusual Father’s Day experience, why not enjoy a cream tea while riding on a steam train?! Available over Father’s Day weekend, Perrygrove Railway’s special cream tea includes scones, clotted cream, jam, and a variety of other yummy treats!

Fishing

For dads who enjoy a spot of fishing, Broadstone Fisheries is a small fishery nestled in a quiet and unspoilt area on the English/Welsh border. With a range of coarse fish, including carp, rudd, perch, bream and tench, the fishery is ideal for anglers of any ability!

Father's Day at Dean Heritage Centre

For the dads who are interested in history, the Dean Heritage Centre protects and preserves the unique history and heritage of the Forest of Dean, with a fully-interactive five acre site. Plus, they’re giving you the opportunity to celebrate Father’s Day with a range of activities, including lawn games in The Paddock, and the chance to make something special in the craft hut!

Bird of Prey Experience

Treat your dad to a private, hands-on experience with a bird of prey! With an experience from Wye Valley Falconry, your dad will have the opportunity to fly some of their birds of prey, as well as to witness the unique techniques that make the birds some of the most incredible hunters and predators in the world!

Distillery Tour

Is your dad a fan of gin? If so, then what better way to celebrate Father’s Day than with a tour of Silver Circle Distillery? During the 45-minute tour, you will get the opportunity to learn how they handcraft Wye Valley Gin, sample each of their different products, and enjoy a signature gin and tonic!

Vineyard and Wine Tasting Tour

Or, if your dad is more of a wine drinker, why not enjoy a guided tour of Wythall Estate Vineyard, followed by a tutored wine tasting? Learn about the grape varieties, the pruning methods used, and how the vines are managed from planting through to harvesting, before tasting a trio of Wythall wines.

Brewery Tour

Or, if your dad enjoys his beer, head to Bespoke Brewing Co. or Kingstone Brewery to discover how their ales are brewed, as well as to have the opportunity to taste some samples!

Cider Tasting

Finally, if your dad prefers a cider, why not discover the UK's largest cider collection of oak vats at Westons Cider, or enjoy a tasting of Severn Cider’s or Ty Gwyn artisan cider?

However you choose to spend your Father’s Day in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, we hope you have a fantastic day with your dad! We’d love to see what you get up to, so don’t forget to share your #DeanWye photos!
