Children’s eyes will light up when they see a pile of leaves and they will soon be running, jumping and kicking their way through the season. See below for some more fun activities helping the children enjoy the forest.
Combine Leaf Peeping with adrenaline pumping thrills at Go Ape with a Treetop Challenge (over 10s) at Mallards Pike, or for younger children the Treetop Adventure at Beechenhurst. These high-wire courses take place above 12m and offer 360 views of the forest canopy as well as exhilarating ziplines. There are also Segways for those without a head for heights to explore the woodland behind the Mallards Pike location.
Forestry England have put together a pack that is bursting with creative activities for autumn fun which will get kids young and old out and exploring the woods. Whether it’s going on a conker hunt or tracking the changing colours, there’s something to excite kids of all ages in this downloadable guide.
Combine the autumn activity pack with an adventure of your own by heading to one of our hotspots such as Beechenhurst for a scavenger hunt. Follow one of the trails leading into the woods to discover the best autumn leaves, conkers, pinecones and more. Junior wildlife fanatics will also enjoy exploring Mallards Pike and Cannop Ponds where squirrels will be busy building their winter stores, birds will be feasting on berries and, if you look extra carefully, you may spot deer strolling through the trees.
