Explore the highlights of the winter season including:
A whole month full of festivities for all ages to enjoy including outdoor markets, steam train rides and pantomimes, cookery classes and seasonal crafts, Santa visits and shows all perfect for getting you in the festive spirit. Our restaurants and pubs often have Christmas menus includingg festive afternoon teas and meals ideal for pre-Christmas get togethers and with lovely decorations and real trees it's a heartwarming time to get away for a winter break.
The festive season can be pretty full on and it’s easy to feel disconnected from nature with so much time spent indoors, so why not head out for a walk in the beautiful scenery to lift your mood. There’s nothing like a crisp beautiful wintery landscape for making you feel enlivened. At the most wonderful time of year, unwind by getting off the sofa and enjoying the great outdoors.
Snowfall in our winter wonderland is truly magical too and those crisp winter days are perfect for wrapping up and capturing our ancient forest which looks so much like magical Narnia!
See the snowdrops which usually begin appearing in late January and can be found all over the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley at this time of year. They are always a delight to see, such delicate flowers but they create such a stunning effect when a 'blanket' of them is found on the woodland floor.
With February comes Valentine's Day and a time to cherish relationships and celebrate romance. From couples cookery classes to fun activities, and of course plenty of delicious food and drink and romantic places to stay.
